She herself lost her seat because the Israel lobby money. The Israel lobby gathered a lot of money to back a pro-Israel opponent to ensure she gets the boot.

However, I don't believe that the Israel lobby, as powerful as it is (AIPAC, for ex, has doubled its financial coffers), controls the US. I believe that it is neoliberal capitalism coupled with militarism that controls the US. So, whoever wishes to line his or her pockets, regardless of nation, religion, or other supposed difference--or even supposed peace loving stance-- kiss each other other in the lure of big bucks.

So, there we find people of all nations, races, genders and beliefs, including Arabs. One prime example being Hosni Mubarek, and of course, the Saudi ruling elite.

I believe the military industrial complex which is inextricably part of the capitalist economy controls the US.

Think, for example, if Israel was not a militarist state, but actually a place where people lived in peace and harmony with EVERYONE. Why would they need those 3 billion for military support each year? What job would the Israel lobby do if the Palestinians were not "the enemy"?

I also thought, when I read about Freeman's resignation, that, oh boy, how easy for someone to step out of the game. So, I thought, if one's heart and soul really believes in the issue (in this case defending Palestine) how could such pressure from the Israel lobby make you change your mind? Sounds like not too much of a commitment, if you ask me. But maybe I am being too harsh. Maybe he believes he could work for more change in a better way, such as staying president of the Middle East Policy Council. Maybe he gets more money to have that position? That part of their funding comes from Saudi Arabia shouldn't be a problem as the Saudis are staunch American-style capitalists.

Someone who is committed to working for justice for Palestine does not give up.
