squirrel star

Melissa and Jackson Brandt photo from The Toronto Star

This photo is so funny, I just had to share it. I've got a few squirrels that visit my backyard and they do funny things and really assert their presence, so I thought this photo-loving squirrel was so funny. This couple set up their camera and self-timer to take a photo of themselves when they were in Banff, Alberta, only to have this squirrel make itself the star.

In the Toronto Star article it says that "squirrel bombing" has started popping up, too. That is, this squirrel is showing up like a garden dwarf in travel photos...but in different more political contexts....

This has really spread around the net and print news like wildfire. So funny. We too get a lot of kicks from our squirrels but this one takes the cake!

I was touring around the same area of Alberta a few years ago, stopped by a lake and was accosted by a cheeky squirrel looking for a handout. It jumped in the car when the door was open, looked around, found nothing to interest it, and disappeared into the bushes. When another car pulled up beside ours it went through the same routing. Perhaps Alberta squirrels are especially bold.

MJ, this one definitely takes the cake. To think 'squirrel bombing' didn't exist until this squirrel showed up...

20th c Woman, it must be true...Alberta squirrels are the most bold and bearlike....like the politicians of Alberta ;-) Thank god you didn't have one trying to approach your car....

Merche, squirrels, like much else in life, are both a blessing and a curse. There so cute but they don't stay where we want them to stay. They have their own pesky ideas...
