Lake Superior shore line on Sunday

Grasses by the lake shore. Directly overhead soared a bald-headed eagle, sweeping the shoreline with its fierce gaze.

Inside the grasses, a Greater Goatsbeard gone to seed, its featherlike spores mirroring the snow white eagle's head.

The landscape around me is amazing. I walk the same paths, the same shoreline, the same places day after day and it never ceases to amaze me as something new, something outstanding pops up before my eyes. To me, the photo of the grasses looks like a soft watercolour painting. If you would've been there in the light of this image, it was glowing softly golden. The Greater Goatsbeard was just faintly speckled with morning dew. There were other ethereal orbs of this same "weed" scattered here and there. But the surprise was the eagle. I was so surprised to see it that I couldn't get my camera in time!
